"Spanish in Mexico!" Program

THE PROGRAM INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING SERVICES:
- 6 hours of classes daily, Monday - Friday, in Normal Intensive Language Program (Classes range from one to maximum five students).
- Living and interacting with a Mexican host family, (SHARED ROOM – 3 meals a day).
- Airport Transfer from the Mexico City International Airport to Cuernavaca (One way).
- Cuernavaca Downtown Tour to see the Main Cathedral, Jardín Borda, Cortes Palace, the Zócalo (Main square)
- Volunteer Work Program: Every Monday participants work within low-income communities, orphanages and community organizations on education and service projects. The program is geared towards establishing a relationship with the community and orphans while completing projects and teaching the basics of English through games, songs, etc. Students will assume the expenses generated for this activity.
- Spanish/English conversation exchanges: Tuesday & Thursday evenings. Students speak 30 minutes of Spanish, 30 of English, and have the opportunity to meet Mexican students studying in our English Division.
- Monday evening movie: each Monday, a Mexican/Latin American film is shown.
- Cultural Workshops: Tuesday and Thursday afternoons: Metal plate work and dancing lessons.
- Access to computers and e mail daily, to receive/send messages, using: student@cuauhnahuac.edu.mx
Internet service for additional cost (approximately $1 USD/hour)
- Doctor available to students in the mornings Monday through Friday, for minor needs
- Access to all Cuauhnáhuac´s recreational facilities
DESCRIPTION OF SUGGESTED EXCURSIONS:
- The excursion package price includes:
guiding teacher from Cuauhnáhuac, entrance fee, and the ground transportation to and from these sites.
- Tepoztlán Village:
This is a beautiful, picturesque Indian Village, known for its energy, magnetism, and healing qualities. You can find a 16th century monastery and a mountain where one can make an hour´s climb to the top reaching the Tepozteco Pyramid. Every weekend in the zócalo there is an arts and crafts market which has beautiful national and international crafts.
- Las Estacas Spring Fed River:
Site of several Tarzan film settings, this is an exotic spring-fed river surrounded by lush greenery. The crystalline water is fed by a natural spring, and carries you on its gentle currents for more than two kilometers.
The City of Taxco: A charming colonial town where silver is mined, crafted and finally sold at reasonable prices. Look for the numbers 925 on each piece; it is the government certification of the quality of silver. The church of Santa Prisca, built in the 18th century and located in the zócalo, is worth the trip.
- Mexico City (Centro Histórico) & Pyramids of Teotihuacán:
located in the heart of Mexico City. The Templo Mayor is the pyramid of Tenochtitlán and as you walk through it you can imagine yourself back in the time of the Aztec civilization. The Cathedral is the oldest and largest religious construction of the entire American continent. The Government Palace encases enormous murals painted by Diego Rivera, which depict the history of Mexico. Pirámides de Teotihuacán: Located north of Mexico City, this was the economical, political and religious center of the Teotihuacanes, before the Aztec Empire. It was planned out as many modern cities today are, with a wide main street and drainage system, etc. “The Pyramid of the Sun", the second largest in Mesoamerica, and the "Pyramid of the Moon" are among the most important of many structures that make up this archaeological wonder.
